Budgeting and the Copier Lease

One of the hardest tasks for any company manager is how to manage the cash flow of her corporation. Looking at copier leases from a slightly different perspective is a positive way in which a company can get a better handle on the accounts payable department.

The professional that we know looks at the cost of leasing a copier in a fashion similar to utilities or payroll, in that it is a fixed expense that can fluctuate depending on the demands of a given month. This helps him determine how he will meet his income targets and properly budget for the cost of the copier lease.

He also looks at the equipment lease as an unbreakable commitment, thus, he is careful to weigh his options from a technology and cash generation standpoint. He neither wants a copier that will be outdated nor an expense he can not meet. He has even considered setting aside a slight portion of revenue each month to meet the terms of the copier lease buyout, offering him an additional choice if he believes that it is more economical to own the copier outright.

Overall, it is a sound approach to copier leasing, one which lets him have a better grasp overall on cash flow management.
